As I was stretching this morning it struck me how far I've come in my flexibility level since I started practicing yoga regularly. I've practiced Bikram yoga for a year now, although I've only started going to classes regularly since June. I placed my palms on the floor and thought about how just a few months ago it was difficult for me to even touch my toes. I admit that I feel a little inadequate at times when I see what some of my fellow practitioners can do, but I just remind myself of how far I've come these past few months and all the benefits I've received. My knee problems that have plagued me for almost 9 years are now completely gone, my back feels better than ever, and I have more stamina and greater flexibility. Now that my body is in better shape my goals are to keep attending classes regularly (at least 3 times a week, preferably more) and be able to do all the postures in the advanced series at least somewhat adequately. The second part is a huge goal, I know. But the journey is what's important and I'll keep writing about my progress.
